Dr Birgit Stegbauer, born in 1966, has studied History of Art, Romance Studies and History at the Universities of Regensburg, Trieste and Hamburg. In 2009 she moved with her husband and two sons (10 and 13 years old) from the USA to Villach. She has various freelance occupations including among other things a regular German-English column with recommendations on trips out in the Alps-Adriatic region for the Carinthian International Center (CIC) and leading cultural excursions. On top of that she offers cookery courses in German which introduce non-Austrians to the specialities of Austrian cuisine.
